I hope everyone is doing well. Before we get to John’s monthly newsletter/meeting reminder I’d like to let you know that Nina has posted another blog on our site. She really does have an amazing story to share and she tells it so well. Please take the time to read her most recent blog called, “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.”. Please feel free to comment on her blog on the blog page. Thank you Nina for sharing your story.  It truly is inspirational.

See you folks next meetin’. This is Mitch signing off. Now, heeeeeeere’s Johnny!!

Hello to All! Hope everyone is having a fantastic winter and enjoying a healthy and prosperous start to the New Year!

Something very special and very real happened when I started thinking about our last meeting and what to write in this newsletter. I started to reflect on ideas and topics and on ways to put them together, but I couldn’t focus. I kept seeing and hearing all the special people in that room that touched me in so many ways. The big smiles and laughs from new comers and “veterans” alike. The challenges that others chose to tackle head on and overcome. These moments at meetings are so awe inspiring and powerful, it’s the reason why our group is so special.

Last month’s newsletter spoke of making “resolutions” to come to a meeting and try to “step out of your comfort zone”. Well, I realized that at our last meeting people did just that? It feels like every meeting creates a new opportunity for someone to shine, whether it’s a new comer flashing an infectious smile or a veteran sharing their story of acceptance. It seems as though every meeting has a new memorable moment for someone. We all can be nervous about a “new challenge” and the fear that comes with it, but what better, more comfortable place to give it a shot. On that note, I’d like to say Thank You to all the people who have given it a shot and stepped out of their “Comfort Zone”. It’s great to see and learn more about everyone each time we meet. It was awesome to hear someone else mention they had missed meetings, and how they were “glad to be back”. Another person spoke of tough times at school and how “advertising” helped to alleviate some of the fears and anxiety. Still others were just “Happy to be Here” to enjoy the company and share a laugh or maybe a story.

Our gang just keep getting bigger and BETTER! Be supportive while being supported. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We look forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting. Please explore the rest of our new website and make any suggestions that you may have.

Please, please, PLEASE – RSVP for the meeting!! We really do rely on RSVPs to know our refreshment needs for the meeting. Please take 30 seconds and RSVP.

RSVP to Mitch at stuttering@stjohns.edu and respond YES / NO / MAYBE

Sincerely,

John
